Jenson Button about to announce his retirement?

According to The Telegraph, Jenson Button reportedly close to announcing his retirement from the F1 after 16 seasons contested in the discipline. The 2009 world champion would confirm his intentions before the Japanese GP played this weekend at Suzuka. Our British colleagues indicate that the pilot McLaren would be tempted to join the platoon of WEC where Mark Webber currently plays with Porsche by completing his career on the show Top Gear.

Jenson Button has had a great career as he has 16 victories, 51 podiums and eight poles to his credit in F1. However, the Briton experienced a setback with the drop in performance of the Woking single-seaters, his last success dating back to the 2012 Brazilian GP at Interlagos. The difficult start of the new partnership between McLaren and Honda would have decided to take a new direction in his career at the age of 35.

If his departure were to be confirmed, Stofffel Vandoorne would occupy a good place in the list of replacements, the Belgian from the British team's young driver program currently dominating the GP2 Series. Kevin Magnussen could also make his return after playing alongside Jenson Button in 2014.
