It starts off badly for Mercedes. After the technical problems encountered on Tuesday by Nico Rosberg, and which cost him practically a full day of testing, it is the turn of Lewis Hamilton to see his session cut short.
As the 2008 world champion set off for his first official test session as a Mercedes driver, the Briton, after completing around fifteen laps, drove straight to the end of the long pit line and hit the wall tires. A minor exit from the track, since Lewis Hamilton instantly extricated himself from his vehicle. But by the time the Mercedes W04 was released, the red flag was waved and the practice session interrupted for around ten minutes. The Silver Arrow, for its part, was covered with a veil then repatriated to the stand on a flatbed truck.
Once back in the box, Mercedes indicated that Lewis Hamilton's car encountered a rear brake problem. The nose and the front wing suffered damage, it was specified, without however indicating whether the Briton will be able to return to the track during the day.
