In Jeddah, the fight went in favor of the Dutchman, but the Saudi round reawakened a great rivalry dating back to the days of karting between the tenors of Ferrari et Red Bull.
For now, everything is okay. The fights are clean, the respect immense and the smiles unfeigned. For how much longer ? Since their childhood, Charles Leclerc et Max Verstappen were built in the rivalry of one towards the other. There remains from this era of the WSK Euro Series, in 2012, a viral video of the chubby face of the Dutchman railing against an attack from his Monegasque rival, who, long hair in the wind and already mischievous look, blurted out with great confidence that 'there was no reason to cry scandal and that it was only a racing incident. Since then, the two dragsters have grown up, abandoned their karts for F1, and if the young prince of Monaco was deprived of the great struggles for almost two and a half years because of a struggling Ferrari, he showed in Bahrain, by resisting Verstappen in an authoritarian manner for three laps, that he hadn't forgotten how to deal with the adrenaline of close combat. In Saudi Arabia, however, the Dutchman wanted his revenge and obtained it. For ten laps, the last ten, on the still furious route of the Jeddah Corniche, the two tightrope walkers, alone in their league, engaged in a battle of strong arms and sharp brains, making us forget the terrorist context that intervened 48 hours ago earlier.
