Jüri Vips retained within the Red Bull Junior Team

Red Bull has retained Jüri Vips within its young driver academy. The Austrian team terminated the Estonian's contract as a reserve driver in F1 after inappropriate comments were posted on the Internet.

The Jüri Vips soap opera continues. Red Bull, via the voice of team principal Christian Horner, confirmed that the Estonian was retained within the Red Bull Junior Team. Only his test and reserve driver contract was canceled by the team. Formula 1, but Vips is still part of the young pilot academy.

According to Christian Horner, Red Bull wants to give Vips an opportunity to redeem itself: “Everyone deserves a second chance, if they can show that they have truly learned from their mistakes. We will support him – even though his contract has been terminated – from a mental health and education perspective. Let's hope he learns from this. »

As a reminder, Jüri Vips had been fired from his role as Red Bull's reserve driver following a controversial outing during a live stream on Twitch where he uttered a racist term twice. The Austrian team then decided to cancel its contract. His team in Formula 2, Hitech Grand Prix, had renewed his confidence in the young Estonian pilot.
