Kevin Magnussen escaped the worst

While Kevin Magnussen was running in the top ten at the Belgian Grand Prix, the driver Renault suddenly lost control of his R.S 16 at the exit of Raidillon and hit the wall of tires head-on from behind. The marshals had to display the red flag to repair the damage to the protections while the Dane was able to limp out of his wreck.

Renault Sport F1 Team confirmed that Kevin Magnussen, after passing through the medical center, was hospitalized with an ankle injury. “He is fully conscious and alert. He has a small gash on his left ankle and was taken to hospital nearby for routine checks.”, commented the team.

Kevin Magnussen has since reassured about his state of health by appearing on his Twitter account on his way back after leaving the hospital where he was taken to undergo examinations. If the Renault driver suffers from a slight injury to his left ankle, he assured that he will be present at the Italian Grand Prix contested on August 4 in Monza.
