Kobayashi amazed Vasselon

Toyota a annoncé son retrait de la Formula 1, at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, a waste given the possibilities seen this season within John Howett's team. A decision also damaging for Kamui Kobayashi, who had demonstrated his value on two occasions (Brazil and Abu Dhabi), when he had to replace Timo Glock, injured during qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix.

The Japanese driver, who admitted that a seat at Toyota in 2010 was almost acquired for him following his performances, therefore saw a door close. But, in the eyes of Pascal Vasselon, technical director of the team, the 2009 GP2 Asia Series champion was able to display his full potential and impress all the staff.

“PMore than his Brazilian Grand Prix, where people discovered him and where he was convincing, it was in Abu Dhabi that he dazzled us, affirms Pascal Vasselon in the columns of AUTOhebdo this week. He made a huge improvement from one race to the next, at every level. Driving, technique, race management? In Brazil, his real pace showed during the last third of the race. He analyzed it and drew the right conclusions for Abu Dhabi where he got it right. An effective and truly remarkable personal approach. »

Kamui Kobayashi, who had stated that he would be tempted by a collaboration with Lotus F1 Racing, is today not sure of anything. However, he confirmed that his manager was in contact with several teams. Renault, which is slow to confirm its second pilot, at the same time as its plans for the future, could enlist the Japanese.
