Kvyat accident could be the result of a puncture

If the images numerous punctures at the end of the 2020 British Grand Prix left their mark on people's minds, the accident of Daniil Kvyat (Alpha Tauri) was much more spectacular. The Russian is lucky to escape without the slightest scratch:

At this point, the unforgivable Maggotts-Becketts-Chapel sequence, the single-seaters hurtle down at very high speed, 300 km/h. Additionally, the navy blue and white frame ended its wild ride against a wall and a guardrail, without encountering tire protection or TecPro.

“We were heading for a good result when I suddenly lost the rear of the car, explains Daniil Kvyat. At first I thought it was a fault on my part, because I tend to always incriminate myself first.

In fact, after analyzing the replays, we saw that something happened beyond my control. We will need to check all the data in order to understand exactly what caused this breakage. »

Team Principal Franz Tost raises a hypothesis concerning the cause of this accident. " Looks like it was caused by a rear puncture.. However, the most important thing is that he emerged from the wreck without injury.

It’s a real shame because he showed good pace in the race and I think he would have finished in the points too”, like his teammate Pierre Gasly, 7rd.
