Red Bull canopy tested in Russia?

Halo at Mercedes et Ferrari and canopy at Red Bull, two visions of a single-seater cockpit protection system F1 have emerged since the first research began in this direction.

Si Ferrari tested the Halo in Barcelona, Red Bull Racing could introduce its canopy during the next meeting of the season in Sochi in Russia (April 29 – May 1), as Christian Horner told Sky Sports F1.

“We will be testing the canopy solution over the next week, with static and strength tests. If it's successful, we could install it on a car very briefly in Sochi. We'll see how the testing goes next week. »

Horner also specifies the advantages, according to him, of this system compared to the Halo. “I think the canopy offers a little more protection, because it has a windshield. This is a more elegant solution. We believe there is better visibility. »

The FIA recently announced that it wanted to introduce a protection concept for 2017.
