FIA adapts DRS zones for 2012

The FIA has responded to criticism over the lack of overtaking in F1 by creating DRS zones. The effect was immediate since the statistics exploded last year with a total of 1486 successful maneuvers (see: n°1839 of AUTOhebdo). If certain opinions are not favorable to the renewal of this system, Autosport indicates that the Federation will maintain its use without changing the slightest aspect of the regulations.

Only the DRS zones will be modified based on the results observed last season. The activation zones will logically be reduced on circuits where overtaking has proven to be too simple and vice versa otherwise. Their number should also change since a second DRS zone is planned in Melbourne. The Canadian GP and the European GP in Valencia should also be provided with a second activation zone.
