The FIA adapts its Sporting Code in times of crisis

Even confined, the members of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) continue to work. The World Motor Sport Council decided this Friday, April 24 to modify its International Sporting Code.

From now on, the organization gives itself the right to modify the regulations of any FIA-branded championship or cup (Formula 1, WEC, WRC, World RX on the front line, but also the WTCR), no longer by obtaining the unanimity of the participants (the teams) but simply with the agreement of the majority, with a shortened notice period.

In its press release, the FIA indicates that this change was approved with the idea of“mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 crisis and safeguard the future of motorsport”. Obtaining the majority of participants will only be possible in the event of “exceptional circumstances” specifies the FIA.
