For the Federation, the court called into question the authority of the FIA for procedural reasons because Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds do not hold FIA licenses and are therefore not subject to FIA regulations.
On the other hand, still for the FIA, the court did not call into question the ability of the FIA to “exclude” people who intentionally put the lives of other people in danger within the framework of a competition. The FIA is “seriously considering lodging an appeal on this point”.
As long as an appeal is possible, the FIA reminds that the decision of the World Council remains applicable.
Alongside this decision, the FIA wants to ensure that in the future, a person found guilty of such activities, of acts of intentional cheating, cannot participate in the World Championship of F1.
