FOTA does not fall into line

Tensions between the FIA and members of FOTA (the teams' association) may not have completely evaporated. During a meeting held at the Nurburgring on Wednesday between all the teams that will take part in the 2010 world championship, FOTA deliberately left when discussing future proposals for next year.

If this departure is surprising to say the least when we thought relations with the FIA were peaceful after the agreement reached on June 24, it is no less worrying for the future of the discipline. FOTA said in a statement that it learned during the meeting that its members had not yet registered for the 2010 championship. As a result, they have no voting rights and have decided to leave. .

Before this episode, however, the protagonists managed to make progress in their desire to reduce costs without however managing to sign an agreement. Their objective was to return to the level of the early 90s within two years. They also failed to agree on the minimum weight of single-seaters for 2010.
