FOTA speaks out against SREC

The Kinetic Energy Recovery System (SREC in French, KERS in English) should no longer be used in F1 next season if FOTA wins its standoff against the FIA.

The association bringing together eight of the ten teams currently registered in F1 (Williams and Force India having been disenfranchised) decided? in a majority vote? not to support the SREC in the F1 2010 regulations.

In Turkey, McLaren et Ferrari were the only two teams to use this system in their single-seaters. According to our information, BMW voted in favor of SREC during the FOTA meeting but the majority of teams ultimately had the last word by requesting the withdrawal of this system.

This decision taken by FOTA could be added to the famous conditions for the entry of the eight teams into the 2010 championship.
