In Austria this Friday, it's Max Verstappen who emerged victorious in the qualifications against Charles Leclerc which determines the starting grid for the Sprint Race. On a tricky route, the Batavian managed to stay focused despite the two red flags in Q3 to set the best time with 29 thousandths ahead of the Monegasque and 82 ahead of the winner of the British Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz.

The surprise perhaps comes from the 2nd and 3rd lines where there are George Russell (4th), Esteban Ocon (5e) and Kevin Magnussen (6th). Great disappointment in this qualifying session for Sergio Pérez who managed to secure 4th place. But after the cancellation of his turn in Q2, the Mexican plunged to 13th place.

This penalty benefits Lewis Hamilton, the Briton made a mistake at the start of Q3 and had to settle for 10th place. On the sprint race grid, the driver Mercedes now finds himself 9th. Alonso must be satisfied with 8th place behind the two Haas by Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher (7e).

New complicated qualifications for Alpha Tauri. Not in the game in Austria, Pierre Gasly can still be satisfied with his 11th place which transformed into 10th position on the starting grid, just in front Alexander albon (11e).

The two big disappointments this Friday remain McLaren et Aston Martin. One Lando Norris managed to get into Q2, the Briton was ultimately never in the rhythm (15th). Daniel Ricciardo was once again dominated by his teammate (16th). For Sebastien Hag (20e) and Lance stroll (17th), the qualifying exercise definitely does not favor them and it is the German who brings up the rear in Austria.
