Here is the provisional starting grid for the Italian Grand Prix, after application of the numerous penalties inflicted on several drivers at Monza.

The starting grid for the Italian GP

Due to the multiple penalties inflicted on numerous drivers for changing elements on the Power Units, the raw result of qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix must be qualified by the various setbacks on the grid.

Si Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) will start on pole for the 69th time in his career, a new absolute record for the exercise, the twenty penalty places for Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and the twenty-five for Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) place the two drivers Milton Keynes in 14th and 17th positions, despite their 2nd and 3rd places at the end of the qualifying session.

Enough to enable in particular Lance stroll (Williams) to get to the front line, and to Esteban Ocon (Force India) to start from third place.

Nico Hulkenberg (Renault) (10 places), Carlos Sainz (Toro Rosso) (10 places), Jolyon Palmer (Renault) (15 places) and Fernando Alonso (McLaren) (35 places) are among the other competitors facing a penalty on the Monza grid. Stoffel Vandoorne is the latest driver to be sanctioned following a change of Power Unit. Sergio Pérez (Force India) has also just received a sanction of 5 places (4 effective places).

With these multiple sanctions, the starting grid for the Italian GP is turned upside down. The lowest placed drivers who avoided a penalty gain a considerable number of places. Kevin Magnussen (Haas), eliminated from Q1, finds himself 10th ahead of the Saubers of Marcus Erisson and Pascal Wehrlein who were also eliminated during the first qualifying session.
