The starting grid for the Monaco Grand Prix

After the qualifying session, Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) took pole position after setting a new lap record in 1’10”810. Enough to allow the Australian driver to offer himself a new chance to add his name to the winners of the event after having missed a golden opportunity two years ago.

Ricciardo will start on the front line alongside Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari), When Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari). Another favorite for the top spots heading into this weekend, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) will start last, after his exit from EL3 and the impossibility for the Dutchman to compete in qualifying.

A gearbox change also caused a 5-place penalty for Verstappen, without actually changing his starting position.
