The starting grid for the Spanish Grand Prix

Qualifying for this Spanish Grand Prix was played out between the two main leaders of this 2022 season: Charles Leclerc et Max Verstappen. And as is often the case this year in qualifying, the duel turned to the advantage of the Monegasque who found the necessary resources to beat the Dutchman at the end of the session.

Having made a mistake at the start of Q3, Charles Leclerc only had one attempt to take pole. A task carried out to perfection since he beat Max Verstappen by 3 tenths. The latter, however, was unable to complete his last flying lap due to a new mechanical problem.

With an ambitious vision about to Mercedes W13 more stable and less capricious, Lewis Hamilton hopes to move up from 6^e position to grab a new podium. The task will not be easy for the seven-time world champion since Carlos Sainz, George Russell and Sergio Pérez are ahead of him on the grid for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Eliminated in Q2 with the 12 stroke, Esteban Ocon aims for a new comeback. Like in Miami where he finished 8^e after leaving 20^e, the Norman hopes to be able to make his way through the peloton to leave Barcelona with a few points. Same case for his compatriot Pierre Gasly, only 14^e during qualifying.

Despite the new improvements on its AMR22 and the strong resemblance with the RB18 of Red Bull, Aston Martin saw its drivers take the door from Q1. A difficult Grand Prix awaits them this Sunday in Catalonia.
