Now powered by the turbo/hybrid V6 Mercedes (replacing the block Ferrari seen last year), the Manor Racing MRT05 was unveiled this Monday during the first day of Barcelona's pre-season testing in Catalonia.
A car which began its gestation in the middle of last year, and which represents a real breakthrough for John McQuilliam, technical director of training.
“Even at this stage, you could say it’s easily the best car we’ve ever launched. Certainly the most developed, the most ambitious and the most aggressive. The overall package is a significant step forward, and not just since last year, but compared to all our cars.
We certainly have a long way to go from here in terms of development for the MRT05, but it's already a dream package for the 154 people at Manor who worked so hard to design and build it. »
McQuilliam is counting in particular on the star's Power Unit to see progress in the results, but also on the other technical partnerships sealed by the Manor team, especially with Williams Advanced Engineering, which supplies, among other things, the gearbox for the MRT05.
