Pole for Sebastian Vettel

We felt it was particularly competitive at the end of the three test sessions, Sebastian Vettel only confirmed. The German will start alongside Jenson Button, faster this time than Lewis Hamilton.

First twist from Q1, Mark Webber fails to qualify. Wearing hard tires, the Australian was unable to improve on his 18th time. An additional disappointment for the pilot Red Bull, very unlucky since the start of the season.

In Q2, the Lotus-Renault are trying a somewhat unusual strategy. The two drivers decide to complete only one lap. Vitaly Petrov achieves this by setting the 4th time, but the car of the Russian stops on the circuit a few meters after the straight line. The incident caused the first red flag two minutes before the end of the session. This is not Nick Heidfeld's business, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg. Stuck in traffic, the three men struggled to improve their times. Ultimately only Nico Rosberg, despite the inconvenience caused by a Sauber preceding him, managed to qualify for Q3. The young German subsequently delivered a stellar performance as he managed to move his W02 to the second row, just behind the three untouchables at the start of the season: Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.
