The ACM reassures about the future of the Monaco Grand Prix

Will the Monaco Grand Prix still be on the F1 calendar in 2023? This is a question that has recently been raised at a time when Formula 1 is increasingly opening its doors to new destinations such as Qatar and Las Vegas from next season. If it still attracts as many people and enjoys great prestige, the Monegasque meeting seems to have lost part of its influence, or at least no longer seems to be unanimous in the paddock.

« I think that Monaco must adopt the same commercial conditions as the other Grands Prix and perhaps also (the Grand Prix) must work with ways to adapt its track. As our cars got bigger, racing got harder, » recently pointed the finger at McLaren team principal Zak Brown. Enough to put pressure on the management of the Monaco Grand Prix? Not really.

On the occasion of the general meeting of the body of commissioners of the Automobile Club of Monaco, Michel Boeri took stock of the future of the Monaco Grand Prix. Aware of the recent rumors that have been heard on the right and left, the president of the ACM set the record straight.

« I want to allude to what we have read in the press where we talk about difficulties after this 2022 edition, that is to say from next year, to continue to organize Grands Prix. It was understood that the prices asked by Liberty Media were too excessive for Monaco and that the Grand Prix would no longer be held., he says first before hammering away. It's wrong. We are still in discussions with them and we must now concretize by signing a contract. I can guarantee you that after 2022, the Grand Prix will continue to take place. I don't know if the contract will last 3 or 5 years but that's a detail.. » If there has been talk of its future, the Monaco Grand Prix seems set to keep its myth alive for a few more years.

You find the Monaco Grand Prix boring on television, well come see it in Monaco, I can assure you that you won't be bored!... I've been going there for over 20 years and I can't believe that there is more exceptional when you witness it on site, what setting, what atmosphere, not to mention the proximity of the circuit and the cars nowhere else, what sensations, come and see, you will not be disappointed . That being said, without talking about dollars, we very often get bored in front of our screen following the Monaco GP and the prestige does not compensate for the boredom!
