Lance Stroll: “In the wrong place at the wrong time”

This is what we call a chain reaction, of which Lance stroll (RacingPoint) was partly a collateral victim. Having made a mistake at the level of the Ascari Variant, Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) then returned to the track, forcing Stroll to try to avoid him, in vain.

Ejected into a spin, the Canadian then returned to the track, but forced Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) to pass into the gravel trap. Two returns to the track deemed dangerous by the race management, who inflicted a severe but just 10″ stop&go on Sebastian Vettel, while Stroll suffered a drive-through. Not to mention penalty points on the licenses of both drivers.

For Stroll, Vettel is solely responsible for the chain incident. “It all went wrong when Vettel came back on the track very aggressively and touched me, indicates the old pilot Williams.

I'm pretty mad at him for this episode. I tried to avoid him by going to the left, but he continued to move forward. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I did everything to avoid it. I was even careful with the yellow flag.

I lifted my foot but I couldn't really do anything, even at the speed I was going. »

Stroll also explains his own view on his return to action, which led to Pierre Gasly's deviation from trajectory. “I was penalized through no fault of my own. It really is a disaster. I couldn't see Pierre: I was just trying to get off the racing line and away from the dangerous position Vettel forced me into. »

12th at the finish, Lance Stroll may have missed a great opportunity to score big points for Racing Point, with Sergio Pérez finishing 7th.
