The McLaren are definitely playing the science fiction card in Singapore. While the two single-seaters sport a cyberpunk style livery, Lando Norris will ride the streets of the island city-state wearing a special Halo helmet. The Briton is not referring to the protection system established in Formula 1 in 2018, but to the famous video game saga of the same name. The franchise with more than 81 estimated sales was born in 000 with its first iteration, entitled Halo: Combat Evolved. Developed by the Bungie studio before being taken over in 2011 by 343 Industries, it has no less than 14 video games. The latest, Halo Infinite, was released in December 2021.
The saga had a serial version, released in March 2022. The latter stars the Spartan John-117, a genetically modified super-soldier at the center of an interstellar war. This character, also known as Master Chief, is also the main hero of most Halo video games. A leading figure in the franchise, he greatly contributed to the global success with his iconic armor. It is precisely this person that Lando Norris' helmet will refer to this weekend in Singapore.
