Lando Norris signed the first pole position of his career this Saturday September 25 in Sochi. The Briton passed the first two parts of qualifying without incident before following the bet of his compatriot George Russell, the first driver to try slick tires in Q3 while the track was still wet in places. After warming his tires for several laps, the recent second in the Italian Grand Prix stole pole position in his last attempt at Carlos Sainz, also tender. " It's incredible ! I am so happy, a huge thank you to the team for the exceptional work they did, expressed the new poleman of the Formula 1 after the session. I am a happy boy. I was two seconds slower on the lap before but I felt confident with these tires. I don't think I can keep my first place at the start tomorrow, but we are in the best position to start a race. It’s my first pole position, I’m delighted. I hope there will be many more. I'm so happy I don't know what to say. »
