Lando Norris named McLaren reserve

While McLaren will keep the same crew in 2018 by aligning Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne on the Grand Prix grids, Lando Norris will evolve into the position of test pilot and reserve pilot, replacing Jenson Button who is expected to turn to the Super GT.

The 17-year-old Briton, who has been playing in the McLaren Young Driver program since this year, distinguished himself by winning the title in F3 European Championship with Carlin in his first full year in the discipline. The former Formula champion Renault Eurocup also highlighted itself by participating in the tests carried out at the Hungaroring (Hungary) with the McLaren MCL32.

“The last 12 months have been incredible for me. I've enjoyed every minute of it and it's a fantastic way to end the year, comments Lando Norris. I'm looking forward to working with the team, especially as it starts next week with tire testing in Interlagos (Brazil). I have two excellent teachers with Fernando and Stoffel. »

Lando Norris is currently working to finalize his program for 2018 in order to continue to evolve in competition.

“I continue to work hard to finalize my racing program. We are close to agreement on various proposals but nothing is finalized yet. I hope to be able to announce something soon,” specifies the reigning F3 champion.
