Lance stroll was the first to experience theAston Martin AMR23 just days after its reveal at the team's brand new factory at Silverstone. The car was equipped with Rain tires to negotiate a track that had become wet after a morning frost, before switching to dry tires for a number of installation laps. Weather conditions improved in the afternoon, and the recruit Fernando Alonso was able to do his first laps on the ARM23, before ending the day under the winter sun.

Despite the slightly humid conditions of the morning, Aston Martin was able to carry out its program. Lance Stroll covered 17 laps and Fernando Alonso 16 laps before the official pre-season test which will take place next week in Bahrain. “ Getting behind the wheel of the AMR23 for the very first time was a special moment, explains the Canadian pilot. Everything worked as expected and without problems, which is the most important thing as we prepare for the next test in Bahrain. We know there's always a lot to learn at the start of the year, but we got off to a good start this morning and I really enjoyed being back behind the wheel. There's nothing like putting your right foot into a brand new Formula 1 after a long winter break! »

« It was a good day and I enjoyed being able to drive the AMR23 for the very first time, adds Fernando Alonso. It's nice to be back and feel the speed of Formula 1 after a while away. We accomplished a lot today because it's a shooting day and we carried out our plan without any problems. All we have to do now is wait for next week's testing, where we will get to know our car better and better understand where the competition is after the winter. We only have a day and a half each to get up to speed in Bahrain, so we need to maximize the time we have with the car. »

The double Spanish world champion is, however, aware that his first steps with the Silverstone team will not be an easy task.
