Latifi: “I can’t wait to see where we are”

It was with a record number of 160 laps completed during his last day of testing - 343 in total or 1597 km - that the Canadian, the only neophyte on the 2020 grid, completed his preparation.

Latifi: “I can’t wait to see where we are”

What do you think of the FW43?

Having driven its predecessor in EL1 last year, I can say that it is clearly better. Have we progressed as much as others? More than the others ? The certainty is that we have improved. But I'm really eager and excited to see where we are. Friday, during the very last day of testing, George (Russell. Editor's note) was on time for theAlfa Romeo, but that doesn't mean much. But I am hopeful that we can be in the fight.

You frequented the stables Renault (2016 test driver) and Force India (2018 test driver), but nothing comparable with Williams. Where are you with your integration?

It’s a relationship that really began in Bahrain last year and has continued to build and strengthen. Having been in the team environment all last season, having participated in briefings and debriefings, as well as in certain free sessions 1, greatly facilitated my integration into the team. I started the winter tests with a family that was already mine.

Do you feel ready for Melbourne?

The last day was indeed positive. It was the first time I drove with a full tank of gas and did a full race simulation. It was a very good learning experience which also allowed me to make up a little for the deficit in kilometers that I had conceded after the problems encountered during the first day (faulty oil system. Editor's note). Overall, the feeling is good, but it is better to set reasonable goals and surpass them rather than setting the bar too high.
