The provisional 2021 calendar revealed

Liberty Media presented this Tuesday a first version of the World Championship calendar F1 2021, with 23 dates, after several weeks of rumors about the possible solutions put forward by the American owner of the discipline.

After the 2020 episode marked by the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Australia would normally return to its opening round place on March 21, before a traditional Bahrain – China series.

Without the presence of Vietnam in this first version, the April 25 test remains on hold for the moment.

The European articulation of the rest of the calendar remains close to that which we saw in previous years, with a French Grand Prix contested at the end of June at Paul Ricard. Change, however, for the Zandvoort round postponed to September, which shifts the usual Monza date by one week.

This will then be followed by a return to Asia with Singapore and Japan, and a return to the two American continents, with Austin, Mexico and Brazil, the location of this event still remaining uncertain with the possibility of seeing F1 return to Rio.

The main novelty comes from the arrival of Saudi Arabia at the end of November, for a night race, before the final in Abu Dhabi at the beginning of December. All this obviously remains conditional on health restrictions linked to the coronavirus pandemic, and possible changes to the calendar.

Note that two sessions of three consecutive Grand Prix mark the calendar with the Belgian, Dutch and Italian rounds at the turn of September, then a sequence after a one-week break of the events in Russia, Singapore and Japan. That’s six races in seven weeks.
