Rosberg's contract unscathed after Spielberg?

The clash between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton at the Austrian Grand Prix does not come at the best time for the Championship leader. Found responsible for the accident which caused him to lose three places while he was in the lead on the last lap, the German found himself overhanging the Mercedes when he negotiates the contract extension.

While Toto wolff, the executive chairman of Mercedes Motorsport, once again considered the possibility of establishing team instructions, the Austrian was nevertheless reassuring about the future of Nico Rosberg within the Silver Arrows. “The contract is a long-term decision which is not influenced by a racing incident”, confirmed the Austrian quoted by Reuters.

Gerhard Berger, in charge of negotiations between Nico Rosberg and the star team, confirmed the team principal's comments.

“It would be a very short-term thought for everyone (if the impact was negative). Here we have a race where a driver did an incredible job before a set of circumstances occurred on the last lap.", added the former pilot of the Team Ferrari.
