It's becoming a sad chestnut at the end of the year. Like every year since 2020, the 2023 Chinese Grand Prix will not take place, announced the promoter of the Formula 1 this Friday, December 2. In question, of course, the local situation linked to Covid-19 which makes it almost impossible to transport all the logistics of the F1 circus and more generally the good performance of the race weekend as a whole.

Theater of the 1000th Grand Prix of the discipline in 2019, the Chinese Grand Prix has not taken place since and will therefore not be able to celebrate its first Chinese driver in history next year, in this case Guanyu-Zhou, pilot Alfa Romeo. The Shanghai native was nevertheless delighted to drive in his hometown, where his passion for motorsport was born, when he attended the race in 2005, flags bearing the effigy of Fernando Alonso in the hands.

As a reminder, the Chinese round was to be the fourth Grand Prix of the year 2023, and was scheduled for April 16. If F1 has not communicated the identity of the replacement, several circuits are in contention. Portimao has been mentioned for several weeks as a replacement, but nothing has yet been decided and other countries have applied.
