New Jersey to host F1 in 2013

It was Governor Chris Christie himself who confirmed this. There F1 should come to New Jersey in June 2013, with New York as the setting. This would not, however, call into question the holding of the round in Austin, Texas, where a circuit is currently under construction.

“I am delighted that New Jersey will host F1 starting in 2013, bringing one of the most popular and exciting sports to our country, has he said. The race will take place on a 3,2-mile (5,149 km) route, on existing roads through Port Imperial, to the top of the New Jersey Palisades, to Weehawken and West New York. 100 people are expected for the race.”

The contract would be for 10 years, and the work would once again be entrusted to Herman Tilke. The event should be coupled with the Canadian stage, and could therefore be organized in June. We are therefore heading towards a 2013 calendar with two Grands Prix in the Land of Uncle Sam.
