New Jersey has a long future ahead of it

Despite a first cancellation and a big period of doubt, it will finally be there. The American Grand Prix in New Jersey must make its official entry into the calendar of the Formula 1 from June 2014 and for many years thereafter. A contract lasting from 2014 to 2029, or 15 years, would have been signed. In any case, this is what Leo Hindery Jr, the promoter of the race, has just guaranteed, interviewed by the Press Association Sport agency. “The American Grand Prix at Port Impérial has been a dream for many in this sport for a decade,” he declares. "We had hoped to be ready to race by June 2013, but late last fall it became clear that we would not have time to install all the capital structures required to host Formula 1." Therefore, the event initially registered this year was abandoned, reducing this season's calendar from 20 to 19 meetings.

“Thanks to the patience and invaluable assistance of Bernie Ecclestone and Formula One Management (FOM), we now have a long-term agreement to race for years to come, starting in June 2014.”, assures the promoter. The American Grand Prix will offer a unique setting for Formula 1 with the buildings of New York in the background. A project that was close to Bernie Ecclestone's heart for years, which explains why he did not hesitate to invest in the business.
