As a reminder, the CRB, a council created by the FIA ​​to ensure the compliance of “driver” contracts, found nothing wrong with the parchment drawn up by the lawyers of the McLaren team. No formal defect in this document which unites the Woking team with the Australian hopeful from the 2023 financial year. However, the CRB also confirmed the validity of the contract linking Oscar Piastri with Alpine for 2022.

The Piastri affair soon before the courts?

A few days after the start of the affair, Otmar Szafnauer declared that he wanted to take the conflict to court. “Going before the High Court of Justice, it is more than 90% certain that we will do it”, explained the team director Alpine, for Reuters.

But before going to court, Alpine intended to contact the CRB to consult possible recourses. “If the CRB says “your license is only valid at Alpine ", and he (Piastri) says "that's great, but I will never drive for them, I will sit for a year", then you have to go to the High Court to get compensation", Szafnauer had specified. The French team is still counting on the Australian driver to drive for the Blues in 2023. If necessary, the teamenstone could demand significant financial compensation.
