La Formula 1 makes his return to Europe, after a getaway to Miami. From May 20 to 22, the 54th Spanish Grand Prix will host the 6th round of the 2022 world championship, at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Barcelona.

The Catalan track will be used for the 32nd time by F1 since its creation in 1991. A track very well known by drivers and teams because it is very often used to carry out pre-season winter tests. This year, the 1 version of F2022 went to Barcelona from February 23 to 25, for the first laps of the new single-seaters.

On the circuit side, no changes to report compared to 2021. Last year, turn 10 was modified, going from a tight hairpin bend to a faster curve. On the 4,675 km route, two DRS zones will be set up: the first on the long start-finish straight, and the second on the return straight, between turns 9 and 10.

The lap record on the modified track was therefore established last year by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) in 1:16.741. The Briton is also the reigning winner after his victory in 2021, ahead of Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes).

In Spain, French fans will find more usual times. The first two practice sessions will take place on Friday afternoon. Free practice 1 will take place from 14:00 p.m. to 15:00 p.m. and free practice 2 will follow just two hours later, from 17:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m. On Saturday, the third free practice session will start at 13:00 p.m. and qualifying will take place from 16:00 p.m. Finally, the start of the race on Sunday is scheduled for 15:00 p.m.
