The takeover of Donington activities validated

Remained famous for having hosted the famous 1993 European Grand Prix, which saw the domination on a wet track by Ayrton Senna (McLaren), the route of Donington will see its activities change ownership.

The announcement of the buyout by the company MSV, managed by Jonathan Palmer, father of Jolyon and Will, had been known for several weeks, but had yet to obtain validation of the acquisition by the markets and competition authority.

A final obstacle removed yesterday since the British authorities confirmed this acquisition, MSV adding the Leicestershire circuit to its assets within which we can notably find Brands Hatch. « I am delighted that the CMA (markets and competition authority) has decided to validate the acquisition by MSV of the activities of the Donington Park circuit, comments Jonathan Palmer.

Although it has been frustrating to put our plans on hold while we wait for this decision, we have never doubted that Donington customers will benefit significantly from MSV's much greater investment in all aspects and improving customer experience in both in terms of service and value.

My team at MSV are very excited about the potential of Donington Park and we foresee a great new era for the circuit. We look forward to working immediately with existing Donington staff to achieve this. »

La F1 is not in the viewfinder

Between the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017, Donington returned to the forefront when the first rumors of a breakdown of the current contract between Silverstone and F1 emerged. But officials at the Leicestershire circuit quickly admitted not to be in the ranks.

Silverstone, for its part, indicated, in the preamble to the British Grand Prix last July, the activation of the contract termination clause with F1 after 2019. Discussions should be initiated with Liberty Media, new owner of the discipline, for the future of the event.
