Vietnam officially registered in 2020, the detailed route

It was nothing more than an open secret. La Formula 1 will indeed go to Vietnam from the 2020 season, in the capital Hanoi more precisely, in April. The information, disclosed by the Vietnamese authorities a few days ago, was made official this Wednesday by Liberty Media.

“Since we became involved in the sport in 2017, we have been focused on seeking new destinations to broaden the appeal of F1, says Chase Carey, F1 boss.
Our Motorsport team, in association with the municipality and the Grand Prix promoter (Vingroup), worked to create a circuit that will be not only a test for the drivers but also a spectacle for the fans. »

The route precisely, let’s talk about it. With a length of 5,565 km, it will have 22 turns and will be classified in the city circuits category. However, the single-seaters will reach extremely high speeds, with several straight lines, the longest reaching a kilometer and a half. DRS enthusiasts can get excited!

The circuit enclosure will be built near the national stadium, in an organization similar to the Sochi track (Russia). The first two turns will be a copy of the first braking of the Nürburgring circuit (Germany) in “mirror” mode.

Another nod to F1 heritage, the sequence of turns 12 to 15 is inspired by the climb of the Monaco circuit towards the Casino. A drawing which reflects the desire of Hermann Tilke's team to “stay away from 90 degree turns” as indicated in the press release.

Curves 16 to 19 will follow, which are inspired by the famous Suzuka S.

the final two corners call back to Sepang (Malaysia) with a long curve which closes suddenly. Note that the pit lane will cut the last and first turn, with the aim of giving a “shortened” appearance to pit stops.
