Second in the world championship, four points behind Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc is a satisfied man after the Australian Grand Prix. If the Monegasque had to settle for second place behind his teammate Carlos Sainz, the first double Ferrari from Bahrain 2022 is a satisfaction for the Italian team.

Fourth on the starting grid after complicated qualifications, Leclerc took the measure of Norris at the end of its first stop and took advantage of the abandonment from Max Verstappen to get behind his teammate. After a more difficult second stint, possibly due to poor management of his hard tires, number 16 came back on his neighbor in the last loops.

Insufficient to come and play for victory on a circuit where he had won in 2022. Charles Leclerc, however, remains satisfied with the work provided by his team this weekend and he is delighted to see the Scuderia maximize its opportunities, in a season where Red Bull risks once again reaping a large part of the successes.

“First and second, the best we can do!” »

Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), 2nd in the Australian Grand Prix: “It’s very good, especially for the team of course! A double has not happened to us since Bahrain 2022, which remains a good memory. It's incredible to show that we can do this [again]. Carlos had an incredible weekend, back from his operation, he had a very good race.

For my part, I had some difficulties, especially in the second stint with the hard tires. I didn't manage my erasers very well. But the last stint was more positive. First and second is the best we can do!

In the first stint we had to protect ourselves from the riders behind, so I had to stop early. And from that moment Carlos was very fast and I was struggling with my tires. For me, it was clear as soon as we made the first stop. Carlos did a better job all weekend, certainly in qualifying and in the race, and he deserves this victory.

I'm very happy for him, very happy for the team, these are very good points, we said to ourselves that we had to maximize the points this weekend, and we couldn't have done better. »

And yet the weekend had started well in FP1 and FP2! Looking forward to Suzuka in 15 days to see if the Ferrari dynamic continues
