The Monegasque would naturally have liked to enter the F1 winner's circle under different circumstances.

Leclerc relieved to have secured his first career victory

Ever since we talked to him about it... Charles Leclerc is very happy and a little relieved to have finally added his name to the list of Formula 1.

Having come very close to a first success at the second meeting of the season in Bahrain, where an engine problem deprived him of victory at the end of the Grand Prix, Leclerc narrowly missed the mark also in Austria at the resulting from a muscular duel with Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing).

Taking advantage of a Ferrari very dashing in the Belgian Ardennes and managing to tame the emotions linked to the tragic disappearance of his childhood friend Anthoine Hubert on Saturday evening, the Monegasque managed to convert his 3rd pole into victory on Sunday at the end of a controlled race at Spa -Francorchamps.

« Obviously, it was a very difficult weekend given the circumstances and the events of Saturday, confided Leclerc from Monza where Ferrari will aim for a second victory in a row, the first on home soil since that of Fernando Alonso in 2010.

We also knew that Mercedes would be very strong in racing configuration. It was a complicated weekend but we managed to put everything together. We were able to play very collectively and Seb helped me a lot by slowing down Lewis for a few laps.

If I look back, I am very happy to have pocketed this first career success. This is a step that is rarely easy to take. Once it's done, it takes a certain weight off your shoulders and I'm very proud. I haven't had much chance to think about it with the Italian Grand Prix just behind ».

Leclerc also admits that his entry into the F1 winner's circle gives him extra confidence ahead of the Scuderia's national GP.

« Before you get there you feel like it's a long way away but when you win it's a great feeling, he added. Now that this milestone has been reached, I am focusing on the future to ensure that many more victories follow ».

We don't doubt that for a single moment.
