Leclerc surprised, Vettel disappointed: mixed fortunes for Ferrari in England

There is good and bad in Ferrari, following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Let's start with the positive, namely the fourth time of Charles Leclerc.

The Monegasque jumped at the last minute McLaren and Lance stroll in his last flying lap. A rank that surprised him! “It’s totally unexpected. We didn't see this fourth place coming." he admitted on Canal+.

The tactic in Q2 also paid off and should allow him to stand out on Sunday. “My Q2 lap, equipped with medium tires, was important. It allowed me to move on to Q3 with this set of tires. It was a good choice, I'm really happy. »

However, do not expect a Red victory in England. “I think in the race we will struggle. Yesterday was really difficult in long relays and race conditions. But we worked on the car and what's more, we have a good strategy compared to the rivals, apart from Stroll who runs mediums like us. I hope we can take advantage of our choice of tires! »

Conversely, his teammate Sebastian Vettel had a closed face. The German will start with the soft tires from a modest 10th place, after several problems in testing and a lap canceled due to track limits being exceeded.

“I probably couldn’t have done better. I had difficulty getting into the right rhythm. The car ran pretty well but I had trouble adapting it to my needs.

The race is tomorrow, and we'll see what we can do with these tires. »
