Adjustments for the 2018 season

The FIA World Council which was held this Wednesday December 6 in Paris validated several changes which will be implemented for 2018.

In terms of grid position penalties imposed for element changes, a driver receiving a penalty of more than 15 places will have to move back to the back of the grid. If several drivers are in the same situation, the order will be determined based on the order in which the infractions were committed.

The calendar for the next season has been slightly modified, with the Bahrain GP in Sakhir once again becoming the second event of the 2018 season, preceding the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai by one week on April 15.

The FIA also clarified that testing of old F1 could only be contested on FIA Grade 1 or 1T license tracks. The demonstrations should not cover more than 50km in total and specific tires would be dedicated. A minimum weight will be established for batteries.
