For the first time in its 21 years of existence, the Race of Champions will take place outside of Europe this year. It?s in the ?bird?s nest? of Beijing, the Olympic stadium built for the 2008 Olympic Games, where the best pilots will meet on Wednesday November 4.
Michael Schumacher, the seven-time world champion Formula 1 will be present just like Jenson Button, the 2009 World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, the pilot Red Bull, Mick Doohan, the five-time world champion MotoGP, Tom Kristensen, the seven-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Andy Priaulx, the three-time WTCC world champion.
« As soon as we have a steering wheel in our hands, we go for it. It's natural for all of us », Declared Michael Schumacher to AFP. “ The good thing is that between the tests, we have a good time and we don't take it seriously », added the German champion.
Created in 1988 by Michèle Mouton, the famous rally driver, to honor the memory of Henri Toivonen, the Finnish driver who died in racing, the Race of Champions is contested each year on various mechanical machines. Sebastian Loeb, the six-time world rally champion, is the winner of the 2008 edition.
