Changes adopted in F1 by the World Automobile Council

The World Automobile Council has made its quarterly conclusions after meeting this Wednesday, June 29 in Paris. Among the measures adopted, nothing revolutionary or particularly upsetting to report for the Formula 1, if not an anthology of measurements of which here are the main points:

  • The regulations concerning technical limitations on cars during tire tests have been updated, without specifying their contours.
  • The driver press conferences, which had been held since the start of the season on Friday, were moved back to Thursday, 23 hours before the start of free practice 1.
  • It will now be possible to cool gasoline by 20°C during races taking place in hot conditions. The reference temperature will be decided one hour before the session.
  • The regulations regarding mirrors have been updated to allow better rear visibility.
  • It will now be possible to replace a power unit under Parc Fermé regime with a power unit of a new specification. Also, it will be tolerated to carry out some temporary repairs on the power units.
  • The 2026 engine regulations are progressing and should be presented before the next world council.
