The brake ducts still targeted by Renault's complaint against Racing Point

A few hours after the arrival of the Hungarian Grand Prix, history repeated itself between Renault and Racing Point, with a claim by the Diamond brand against the team led by Otmar Szafnauer.

In question, according to the French team, a non-compliance with sporting regulations on so-called listed parts. The stewards of the Hungarian Grand Prix recently issued a first decision, confirming that the brake ducts were once again targeted by Renault.

In the wake of the Styrian Grand Prix, these elements were placed under seal by the FIA technical department for in-depth analysis, at the same time as was requested to Mercedes to provide the scoops for its 10 W2019, from which the parts of the RP20 would be inspired.

The stewards consider that Renault's protest remains identical, and knowing that Racing Point confirmed that the said scoops were strictly identical to those of the Styrian Grand Prix, « there is no need to re-sealing and seizing the affected parts of cars no. 11 and no. 18 after the 2020 Hungarian Grand Prix race.

The Parties further declare and accept that the analysis to be carried out by the representative of the FIA Technical Department and the report to be submitted to the Stewards as well as any evidence and discussions relating to the protest will also be valid to deal with the second protest filed by Renault. following the 2020 Hungarian Grand Prix race.”

We still have to wait for the verdict from the FIA technical department, which should not happen for several days.
