Lewis Hamilton took place at Monza

Lewis Hamilton was never directly threatened by a competitor, the Briton having retained his pole advantage against Felipe Massa (Ferrari) and Jenson Button at the start of the Italian Grand Prix. The only real fear came from the retirement of his British teammate, but the MP4-27 of the 2008 world champion held on until the finish. Sergio Perez (Sauber) quickly returned to the driver McLaren but the latter had a sufficient lead to control his race and win his 20th victory in F1, equaling Mika Häkkinen. The winner of the Italian GP is 37 points behind Fernando Alonso and becomes the closest rival of the Asturian after the double abandonment of the Red Bull.

“This victory in Italy is really special.”, comments Lewis Hamilton who won the Italian Grand Prix for the first time. “I couldn’t help but think of the multiple champions who have achieved victory on this circuit. My race went without any problems. I think this day would have been more complicated if Alonso had started in front of me, but his worries from the day before helped me. There are still many races to go (seven Grand Prix) and we still need to continue developing the car to hope to catch Alonso. »
