Free 2: Red Bull and Ferrari dominate

It is always difficult to learn from the Friday sessions, the teams all having different programs to set up their cars for the race and not looking for performance over one lap. However, the drivers were able to complete numerous laps in order to collect the information necessary to analyze the behavior of their cars.

If Rubens Barrichello (Williams) finished in the middle of the table, the Brazilian was at the forefront at the start of the session, dominating the ranking after ten minutes (1:33:058). But, subsequently, Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) takes the lead, in 1:32:997, before Mark Webber (Red Bull) is not installed at the controls (1?32??118). The Australian, a few minutes later, improved again (1:31??973).

Halfway through the session, Mark Webber improved his time, to 1:31:957, before dropping tenths. After an hour of session, the winner of the Spanish and Monaco Grands Prix clocked a 1:31??234, while Fernando Alonso went under 1?32??, in 1:31??949. Felipe Massa (Ferrari) approaches (1:32:099).

While Jarno Trulli (Lotus) is stuck in his pit with a transmission problem, Sakon Yamamoto (HRT) continues the laps on the track to take control of the HRT usually driven by Bruno Senna. It was also during the session that HRT confirmed that the Brazilian remained with the team and that he would take the wheel again during the next races of the season.

At the top of the timesheet, Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) improves (1:31??875) but is overtaken by Fernando Alonso (1:31??626), who ranks second. In the last minutes of the session, Heikki Kovalainen (Lotus) stopped his car at the side of the track and the times no longer improved.

Merk Webber set the best time in this session, ahead of Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Felipe Massa, with Red Bull and Ferrari dominating the start of the weekend. Behind, Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher (Mercedes) ranks fifth and sixth, Vitaly Petrov (Renault) is seventh, ahead Lewis Hamilton (McLaren).
