Loeb: “Motorsport on the circuit never gave me the sensations of rallying”

Sébastien Loeb was invited to comment on the return of the French Grand Prix next year at Paul-Ricard (Var), ten years after the last edition which took place at Magny-Cours (Nièvre). The nine-time champion of WRC was able to benefit from his sponsor Red Bull to carry out a test session in 2008 in Barcelona (Spain).

“I’m not going to start at 43, Sébastien Loeb had fun during an interview published on the French Grand Prix website. The power of the engine is easy to get used to, especially since the chassis follows. It accelerates really hard but it's manageable. On the other hand, the aerodynamic downforce and the performance of the brakes are incredible. The lateral force of gravity is phenomenal in fast curves, you literally feel crushed, and the braking is monstrous. Without the harness, you are thrown over the steering wheel. It’s going fast, it’s great, it’s there F1 What. »

If Sébastien Loeb could have competed in a Grand Prix in 2009 in Abu Dhabi with Toro Rosso without a refusal from the FIA, the Alsatian has no regrets.

“I can understand the FIA’s decision since I didn’t have much circuit experience. I was on time during my test day, Red Bull had this idea, I would have gone there, it would have been nice but probably would not have gone any further. To be honest, motorsport on the circuit has never given me the sensations of rally », explained the current driver of the Team Peugeot -Hansen in World RX.

Sébastien Loeb added that he would probably go to the French Grand Prix on June 24 if his schedule allows.
