Lotus working on all options for 2016

If several engineers from Renault would already be secretly hard at work enstone, the formalization of the takeover of Lotus F1 Team by the manufacturer at Losange is still waiting for the letter of intent signed by the French brand. The British team has however already confirmed its future crew composed of Pastor Maldonado and Jolyon Palmer.

“Renault has signed a letter of intent. Renault and Lotus management are working hard to ensure the contract is signed. Things are progressing but they take time”, said Matthew Carter, the managing director of Lotus F1 Team, on formula1.com. “We have two options for next year’s engine, the Renault or the Mercedes, and we work with these parameters. We created two designs for the car next year and we focus on these two options. »

Matthew Carter also confirmed that the Lotus name would leave F1 if the takeover by Renault was confirmed. “The team would no longer be called Lotus, this name would then leave the sport. We currently have this license, but someone else could take it over.”, added the director of the British team.
