Ill, Marchionne replaced at the head of the Fiat Chrysler group

An emergency meeting of the board of directors of the Fiat Chrysler group (FCA, including Ferrari part just like Maserati) was held on Saturday, after a deterioration in the state of health of its president Sergio Marchionne. The Italian businessman, aged 66, recently underwent shoulder surgery but sources cited by Reuters agency indicate that the transalpine industrialist is suffering from serious and “important” complications.

“The FCA group announces that during the week, an unexpected deterioration (state of health) of Mr Marchionne took place, while he was recovering from an operation. These complications have worsened significantly in recent hours », reveals a press release released late Saturday afternoon.

It was decided during this meeting that Sergio Marchionne would be replaced by the Briton Mike Manley, the boss of the Jeep manufacturer. Sergio Marchionne had worked in this position since 2004, and distinguished himself by saving Fiat and Chrysler from bankruptcy. The Italian was expected to leave this position in April 2019.

Sergio Marchionne took over as president of Ferrari in October 2014 in place of the indestructible Luca di Montezemolo, and had marked the spirits by the replacement in the wake of Marco Mattiacci by Maurizio Arrivabene at the head of the Scuderia.
