Despite his crash, Bottas prefers demanding circuits with huge clearances

Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) despite himself copied his opponent Max Verstappen (Red Bull). The two men set off in the green surroundings of the Red Bull Ring circuit (Austria) Friday during the second free practice session of the day. For the Finn, the sanction was brutal with an impact of around 25G against the tire wall:

“It was quite a big shock. But everything is fine. There were gusty winds this afternoon and I probably caught one of them”, explains the wearer of number 77, who changed his engine in the morning.

“We suffered a small problempine with the engine, so we decided to change it to the Spec B. This compromised the first session somewhat. However, we found a way to tune the car. We made some big changes for the second session of the day. I felt more at ease, until this accident. »

Valtteri Bottas does not change his mind regarding the ineffectiveness of the huge asphalt run-offs. « Even with my crash, I prefer to be penalized for a mistake made. This is how it should be. It's more exciting. The slightest mistake is costly due to the aggressive curbs and the lack of asphalt clearances. »
