Manor: no guarantee for Pascal Wehrlein

The future partnership between Manor F1 Team and Mercedes seems to be a perfect opportunity for the star manufacturer to align Pascal Wehrlein on the Grand Prix starting grids. The Mercedes F1 reserve driver is on the rise, taking the lead in the DTM with 37 points ahead of his direct opponent Edoardo Mortara before the season finale played on October 18 in Hockenheim (Germany).

More Toto wolff, the sporting director of Mercedes, was keen to point out that nothing had been done. “The subject of pilots was discussed when the contract was concluded but it was not part of the contract », explained the Austrian to the DPA agency. “ Manor now has an interesting steering wheel for sale with Mercedes engine and technology Williams. We haven't finished discussing Pascal yet. »

The pressure is on the shoulders of Pascal Wehrlein who is still in a good position to win the title, four years after his coronation obtained in the ADAC Formel Masters. “It is important that he is efficient during the last DTM weekend and does not make mistakes”, underlined Toto Wolff. “We can then discuss the options available to him. But It's not just about Manor, there are other options in F1. »
