Manor switches to Mercedes engine

For several weeks, and as AUTOhebdo already reported to you (see Ah n°2029), Manor F1 Team will be well equipped with a V6 turbo / hybrid Power Unit Mercedes from the 2016 season, a multi-year contract having been signed.

“In anticipation of the takeover of Lotus by Renault, we are pleased to announce Manor Marussia as a new Mercedes-Benz customer,
comments Toto wolff, boss of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. They are a tenacious team with a fantastic competitive spirit, and we are all looking forward to seeing what step forward they can take next year with their new car coupled with the Mercedes-Benz Power Unit. »

“The strength of the Mercedes-Benz package has spoken for itself, continues John Booth, Team Principal of Manor. 2015 was a year of reconstruction at all levels. Although we were unable to achieve the performances seen in previous seasons, we have built solid foundations on which to progress.

With what we've seen of the 2016 car in the wind tunnel, the Mercedes engine will help us in our pursuit of aggressive development. I also want to thank Ferrari ? In 2015, they supported us to a degree that goes well beyond our partnership agreements. We couldn't have gotten back on the grid without them. »

Manor will also resume its technical partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering, regarding transmission and suspensions.
